Nuke's Guide to the Intarwebz
A few helpful things that will aid you in your internet travels.
Lets start with #1. Getting Mozilla firefox. Download firefox at firefox.com. Why should you download firefox? Well, it rarely crashes, it runs much faster than any other web browser. Many sites are switching to firefox format now. Firefox has thousands of great and useful add-ons that you can get to make the internet more fun. You can also customize your firefox layout to look nicer. Here is a picture of my layout:
You may find these extensions and add-ons located HERE. I would suggest that you get the StumbleUpon application. Most of the most random and funny things i have found were through stumble. Get it HERE. Now when you get stumble, you have to restart firefox, and when you do, click on the 'stumble' button to set up your account. Choose your basic preferences, account name and email, then after you register, set up your advanced preferences. You can choose from over 200 different categories of your interest. And when that is all done, click the Stumble! button to start stumbling. It will bring up a random website of anything that you have selected as your interest. If you want to search for a specific category, click on the "All" icon that is to the right of the stumble web bar, and go down to search and enter what you would like to search for.
You can get hours of awesome things on stumble.
I would also recommend VideoDownloader. It lets you download youtube videos and other sites like that. Go HERE for a visual tutorial on how to use the video downloader. Make sure you save the file as 'filename.flv' then click save.
You need an flv player to actually play the files you download. This is a good one that i use http://applian.com/flvplayer/ Just install it and open up your flv file and you are ready to watch your vids.
Moving on to 'Hacking' your firefox to make it faster. I don't like to say its 'hacking' its more or less 'modifying' but oh well. Follow THESE instructions.
Ok, now lets get to Yahoo Widgets. I love yahoo widgets. They are very helpful and there are thousands you can choose from. They all have different functions. My personal favorites are the RAM, CPU and weather widgets. It tells me what % of RAM i'm using and how much CPU process power i'm using. The weather one is simple. They also have games you can put on your screen and other fun stuff. One of my favorites is the ShootemUP! widget. Basically, you can select your ammunition, and shoot your computer screen!! Woooo! Then you can erase the bullet holes if you want to and start all over! They have different ones you can download too. I had fun with it.
Anyways, here's the link to Widgets. And when you get that, go to the Widget Gallery and download anything you'd like to have for widgets.
Next, we will look at Launchy. Cru showed me this a while ago and i decided to give it a try. I love it now. It's amazing. What it does is you press ALT+SPACE and then you just type a few letters of the program you want to open and it will show you that program. all you do is hit enter and BAM your program is opened. No more needless icons to mess up your desktop. And now you don't have to make pictures out of your icons so you can see the wallpaper! WOOO!
Get Launchy HERE. You can also choose skins for launchy, but i just like the default one.
Next thing is Trillian. Another thing that cru showed me a while back and i recently decided to try. Basically, Trillian > Aim, MSN, ICQ, Yahoo messenger because it can run all 4 at once! You don't need to have all of those stupid programs open so you can talk to your other biased friends (although i still prefer xfire). All you do is just tell it what your AIM/MSN passwords are and you are good to go.
Get Trillian HERE
Now lets move on to movies and tv-shows. I know a few links where you can watch and even download tons of movies and shows.
Filmzzz.com
Alluc.org
Tv-links.co.uk
Videostored.com
Peekvid.com
There's an unlimited ammount of entertainment there. If you are wondering how i found all of this.....just go to college. That's all i have to say.
Now for mapping.
Here is GTKradiant 1.4. It's the best mapping program out there for JKA and many other games. Do NOT get 1.5. It's terrible and don't let anyone else suck you into that false belief that 1.5 is better. It's a lie.
GTKradiant 1.4
Rich Diesals Tutorials
Thats rich diesel's mapping tutorials. It's probably the best mapping tutorial out there. And its easy too. Do EVERY tutorial there. Trust me, it's worth it. By the time you finish, you will know almost everything there is to mapping. Start with the 100 classes, then move on to 200 then 300.
Here's another mapping tutorial link here. This is where you can find all your advanced mapping tutorials and other assorted ones that rich diesal doesn't cover. http://www.map-craft.com/modules.php?name=Tutoriaux
And here is Pakscape. You need this to make the pk3 file. You will also need to make an ARENA file, but that is easily done with notepad or wordpad. All you have to do is save it as (your scriptname).ARENA. It will explain it in the tutorial, but the tut suggests you use a program. That isnt necessary. Just use notepad.
Now you are ready to map
I used to have tons of sites where you can find models to put into your map, but i lost the bookmarks when my computer revolted.
Lets go to Winace. Winace is a great, and free zip file extractor. I like it more than WinRar.
Here is AVG antivirus. It's a free antivirus program that works like a charm. It's free too! So have at it!
Spybot is a free spyware removal program. it is free and gets the job done.
This is all I'm going to post for now. I will update this as soon as i think of anything else that could be useful for you guys. So keep checking this topic.

Crucs Edit::
and for those of you who enjoy torrenting, i got some stuff for you.
*Windowblinds: Windowblinds is perhaps the greatest tool for customizing windows out there. Windowblinds lets you apply any given theme to windows, rather than the base three that you start with. My Desktop at the moment looks like this. (no icons cause i use launchy) Beyond just adding GUI skins, you can overide the color in those skins. for instance my current color theme is red, but it was originally a mango color. Beyond that you can pretty much override anything else in the skin. There are several hundred or so themes that you can download for windowblinds. for the torrent, click here.
*Objectdock, also from stardock the creators of windowblinds. this along with launchy elimnates my need for the start bar altogether. If you look at my screenshot, you see the bar at the bottom, not unlike that found on mac. And if you look to the top, you'll see tabs. Those tabs are attached to a drop down menu. You can create and delete bars however you want, and you can skin them along with edit opacity, etc. link here.
*Finding skins for anything. just go to deviantart.com you will find anything there.
*also, changing your startup screen. You know that gay startup screen that gets boring? yeah, well i changed that too... and this one is free. also from stardock (firm supporters of open source, woot) this program called bootskin allows you to skin in a sense your startup screen. find it here, download in the top right.
*Spyhunter: greatest trojan detector i've ever used. It's a spyware, adware, virus protection software, but i love it to death. pwns spybot and adaware. of course it's not free, but here's a torrent
